Of the 150 largest economies in the world, nearly half are not countries. They are businesses. For Christians interested in advancing God's age of peace, justice, and reconciliation, understanding business and its role in society is critical. At the Faith in the Marketplace conference, you will be challenged and encourages to consider the importance of your work from God's perspective.

Faith in the Marketplace will feature two plenary sessions with Dr. Van Duzer based upon his book Why Business Matters to God. The first is titled, “The Purpose and Practice of Business,” and the second is “Living It Out in the Messy Middle.” The day will also feature responses by a panel of local leaders moderated by Mr. John Duerksen, executive vice president with Univest, and facilitated Roundtable Discussions. Breakfast and lunch are also included.

Dr. Jeff Van Duzer received his undergraduate degree from the University of California and his JD from Yale Law School. He was a partner with the international law firm of Davis Wright Tremaine, where he practiced for more than 20 years. Dr. Van Duzer currently serves as the provost of Seattle Pacific University. He has authored several articles and the influential book, Why Business Matters to God (IVP Academic 2010), which explores the theology of business. Dr. Van Duzer has spoken at Harvard Business School, Yale School of Management, the University of Michigan and many other institutions throughout his decorated career.
