Students’ Rights of Privacy
and Access to Records
Biblical Theological Seminary complies with
the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
of 1974 (FERPA). This act is designed to protect
the privacy of educational records, to establish
the right of students to inspect and view their
records, and to provide guidelines for the correction
of data the student believes to be inaccurate
or misleading.
The seminary is authorized by the act to release
certain information at its discretion, such as
the student’s name, address, and telephone
number, dates of attendance, major, and degree earned. For the convenience of faculty, staff,
and students, the academic office publishes a
seminary-wide directory of students and address information at the beginning of each
semester. The directory is distributed within
the seminary and is not released to outside sources.
The seminary does not assume responsibility for
how information in the directory is handled by
individuals. If a student wishes his name, address,
or telephone number to be withheld from the directory,
he or she must submit a written request to the
academic office within two weeks after the first
day of classes for the fall or spring semester.
Students may contact the academic office for more information. |
