History
Biblical began as the Biblical School of Theology
in 1971 through the shared vision of Dr. Allan A. MacRae,
a former president of Faith Theological Seminary, and
Dr. Jack W. Murray, president of Bible Evangelism,
Inc.
Dr. MacRae and his colleagues became the founding
faculty and classes began meeting in Hatfield, Pennsylvania.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania granted Biblical the
right to grant degrees in 1974; in 1978 the school's
name was changed to Biblical Theological Seminary.
Dr. David G. Dunbar was inaugurated as Biblical's
third president in 1986. Biblical was accredited by
the Middle States Association in 1990 and by the Association
of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada
in 1995.
Prominent characteristics at
Biblical include the community atmosphere and fellowship
of students and faculty, and the faculty's commitment
to the seminary's missional approach to theological education.
