This position requires the ability to work collaboratively, as well as a high aptitude for working with detailed procedures that require a high degree of accuracy. Applicants should also have a solid working knowledge of Integrated Library Systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, and Outlook. The ability to develop proficiency in other software programs and database management is expected.

Director of Major Gift Planning

Institutional Advancement
Full time

The ideal candidate for this position will be responsible for seeking out opportunities, developing and implementing initiatives to identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects to ensure a strong base of ongoing financial support. The Director of Major Gift Planning will have ultimate responsibility for reaching overall planned giving goals and overseeing all related programs, strategies, and volunteer development.  He or she will develop and manage a portfolio of 100-150 prospects including personal cultivation, solicitation, and recognition of major gifts.

The candidate will have adequate experience and ability to:

  1. develop and implement an annual plan for planned giving
  2. develop strategies and approaches to generate ever-higher levels of giving through the use of plannedgifting vehicles such as gift annuities, trusts, estate gifts, securities, real state, and other life income gifts
  3. provide effective training, support and leadership to Campaign volunteers and leaders to meet annual and long-term financial goals
  4. coordinate and/or write and develop promotional materials, including brochures and other reports to promote planned and major gifts
  5. develop innovative recognition opportunities, materials, and events for continuity and donor stewardship
