Thom Skinner Accepts New Assignment as VP for Development
Thom Skinner has agreed to expand his role in development to full time as the VP for Development after serving the seminary as a part time consultant.
Biblical's president, Frank A. James III, stated that a dedicated and experienced VP for Development is indispensible to the long term financial well being of Biblical Seminary and made this new hire his first priority.
Thom has a long history with Biblical Seminary and regularly demonstrates his deep commitment to the mission of BTS. During the last six months, Thom and Frank have worked closely meeting donors, mapping out future plans, and conducting the search for a VP where Thom emerged as the most qualified person for the role.
Thom’s career in non-profit management and fundraising began in 1981 with Houghton College (Houghton, NY). He has served as the chief development officer with two graduate theological seminaries, a private university, and as an executive with a Christian community foundation.
A graduate of Houghton (BA, Bible, Psychology), he also earned his MS (Educational Administration) from the State University College of New York at Buffalo, NY. He has served as a speaker and faculty member with the Association for Biblical Higher Education, In Trust magazine, the Middle Atlantic Christian School Association, Christian Stewardship Association, Christian Management Association, The Mennonite Foundation’s Biennial Development Conference, and the Murdock Charitable Trust Fund Raising Institute (Vancouver, WA).
From 1974 to 1977, Thom was a member of the United States Army Band in New York City. He and his wife Margaret have been married since 1975 and have two adult sons and a grandson.
