BIO

Dr. Derek Cooper has been teaching at Biblical Seminary for four years. Before arriving at Biblical, he taught Spanish at Phil-Mont Christian Academy and Esperanza College of Eastern University. Derek’s primary teaching areas at Biblical are church history and theology, world religions, and biblical studies. Derek is also the director of the LEAD Master of Divinity program.

In addition to teaching, Derek serves as pastor of mission at Doylestown Mennonite Church where he is co-leading a church plant in Doylestown called The Garden.

Derek is the author of So You’re Thinking about Going to Seminary (Brazos), Thomas Manton: A Guided Tour of the Life and Thought of a Puritan Pastor (P&R), and co-author (with Ed Cyzewski) of All or Nothing Discipleship (CLC), which is scheduled to be published in the fall of 2012. Currently, Derek is serving as volume editor for 1-2 Samuel, 1-2 Kings, and 1-2 Chronicles in the Reformation Commentary on Scripture (IVP).

A native East Texan, Derek enjoys watching the Dallas Cowboys and cooking and eating Southern and Tex-Mex foods. He has been married to Barb, the love of his life, for ten years, and together they have three young and wonderful children: Gabriela, Mia, and Eli.   This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
