BIO

Dr. Cooper joined Biblical after several years teaching both Spanish and biblical studies at the high school and college levels. He has taught at Phil-Mont Christian Academy, Eastern University, and Gwynedd-Mercy College. At Biblical, Derek teaches New Testament and church history. He is the author of the book So You’re Thinking about Going to Seminary (Brazos Press, 2008) as well as author of several articles on biblical interpretation. He is also the volume editor for 1-2 Samuel, 1-2 Kings, and 1-2 Chronicles in the forthcoming Reformation Commentary on Scripture (IVP). Currently, he is finishing a book on Thomas Manton (P&R) and is in the beginning stages of writing another book on the hazards of following Jesus.

Derek enjoys spending his free time with his wife, Barb, and their children, Gabriela, Mia, and Eli. He is licensed with and a member of Immanuel Church of the Nazarene in Lansdale, PA.
