A Counseling Center for Students, Staff, Faculty and their Families

The counseling center at BTS exists to provide low-cost, short-term pastoral counseling to seminary students, staff, Faculty and their families. Our counselors are all master's level graduates of seminary and/or licensed, and all strive to provide biblically sound, Christ-centered, God-glorifying counsel. Our goal is that you would leave with greater self-awareness of God's activity in your life and with a greater capacity to meet present and/or future challenges in your life and ministry.

Before starting your counseling sessions please review and complete the following:

The cost per session is $40, master's level counselor, payable directly to Biblical Seminary.

The cost per session is $50, Licensed Professional Counselor, payable directly to Biblical Seminary.

BTS Counseling Center Supervisor and Counselor:

Counseling Center
Kathe De Sanctis Moyer, BSN, MA, NCC, LPC
MA in Counseling, BTS; Licensed Professional Counselor

Kathe is a 2008 graduate of BTS (MA in Counseling), a nurse, and Licensed Professional Counselor. She has served in the church as a Licensed Pastor to children and families. Kathe has worked with people from all developmental stages of life. Her many experiences include working in a Detox Unit, Senior Center, Hospital Psychiatric Floor, Homecare, and School Nursing. For the past six years Kathe has worked as a counselor in alternative education, providing counseling to teenagers and families struggling with drugs and alcohol, eating disorders, mental health diagnoses, abuse, and trauma.

Joining others along the journey of self-discovery, and seeing God's potential and unique design for each person is Kathe's hope for the counseling process.

Michelle Altringer, MA, LPC
MA in Counseling, BTS; Licensed Professional Counselor

Michelle is a 2000 graduate of BTS (MA in Counseling), adjunct professor, and a Licensed Professional Counselor. Michelle has taught Fieldwork courses as well as Introduction to Counseling Skills and Sex Therapy. She has a heart for those that suffer from sexual difficulties in marriage. She has been counseling for over 14 years, and her clients have presented with varying issues including depression, anxiety, and sexual abuse.

Jennifer Dressler, MA, PhD
BA, Susquehanna U.; MA in Counseling, BTS; PhD, Lehigh U.

Jennifer is a 2012 graduate of BTS (MA in Counseling) and is also a BTS adjunct Professor. She serves on the counseling staff at BTS and as a counselor in her local private practice. She offers counseling services with particular interests in grief, anxiety, infertility, cancer/chronic illness care and life transitions (aging, career change). Her heart’s desire is to support and encourage individuals as they struggle with questions of life and faith. Jennifer enjoyed teaching writing and literature at the university level for many years and currently welcomes the opportunity to speak and teach about ways to navigate an increasingly stressful world.

BTS Adjunct Faculty
Steve Smith, MA, LPC
BS, Eastern University; MA in Counseling, BTS

Steve is a 2011 graduate of BTS (MA in Counseling) He is a pastoral counselor with a proficiency in marital concerns, grief and loss, church ministry issues, and vocational transition. Steve holds both a Master of Arts in Counseling degree and a Master of Arts Christian Thought degree from Biblical Seminary. He is a couples’ counselor supporting the pastoral staff at local churches and currently volunteers as a couples’ counselor at a crisis pregnancy clinic. Past ministry positions include Pastoral Care Counselor at a senior living community, Director of Pastoral Administration and Young Adult Ministry, Moderator of the North East Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America, Chairman of the Presbytery Administration Committee, and Clerk of the Provisional Session of a Church Plant in the Lehigh Valley.

BTS Adjunct Faculty
Bonnie Steich, MA, NCC, LPC, ACS
BA, Penn State, MA in Counseling, BTS, Licensed Professional Counselor

Bonnie is a 2006 graduate of BTS (MA in Counseling) and 1990 graduate of Penn State University (BA in Psychology). She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). She currently works full time as the Assistant Director in the BTS Graduate School of Counseling and is an adjunct professor. She also counsels part-time at Penn Foundation's Employee Assistant Program. She has worked at Penn Foundation doing Mobile Therapy with children and at KS MST counseling teens and their families. Her clients include a wide range of ages from children to adults who presented with a variety of life counseling issues including singleness, divorce, effective parenting, anxiety, depression, panic, OCD, phobias, career transitions and more.

Monday-Friday: 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Extended hours on M, T, and TH until 6 p.m.
Saturdays: 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. when classes are in session
