Certificate in Advanced Professional Counseling

The Certificate in Advanced Professional Counseling (CAPC) allows students with a master's degree in counseling to acquire advanced counseling training. Many students who complete the CAPC are interested in licensure.

Course Description

We are also offerring a course during the summer that is a 2 credit hour course required in many states for LPC licensure entitled: Professional Orientation

Application for this certificate is open each semester.  For all CAPC courses (except clinical instruction/fieldwork), please complete the application process (Application, church endorsement, Pastor Recommendation & Academic-Profesisonal Reference forms) and our registration form then submit them to our admissions office. If you are you a graduate of another Counseling Master's program,  please review the Policy for Graduates from Other Programs before proceeding with the application.  

For any Graduate of another Counseling Masters program who needs to complete clinical instruction/fieldwork, you will need to submit the following in addition to completing the application and forms above:

    1. Evidence of completion of a course equivalent to MAC 510 Helping Relationships
        AND a mock video of your counseling skills to be reviewed
    2. A positive reference from a faculty member from your graduate institution explaining
        why you did not complete fieldwork at this institution (e.g., none available) and that
        they would heartily endorse you, the student, as fit for clinical practice
    3.Criminal and abuse background checks for your State
    4.Obtain liablity insurance (1mil/1mil)  or provide a copy of your current personal liablity   insurance.If you need liablity insurance use the link below and apply for either mental health counselor or clergy/pastoral counselor (your preference based on population you are counseling).  http://www.americanprofessional.com/
