Computer Requirements

Instructions for new students (do the following before your first course starts):

  1. Check your computer system and take the self-test: Students must have the required computer equipment and proficiencies listed here and in the self-test.
  2. Become a registered user on Biblical’s website: Login to Biblical’s website (www.biblical.edu) using your username (student ID#) and the password given to you in an email from mindactive.com. Check your junk mail or spam filter if you have not received this email. If you cannot locate the email, click on the login icon in the upper right corner of Biblical’s website, then enter your user name (student ID#) and click Forgot your password? Follow the steps to reset your password. Note: if you do not find the email with the reset token, check your junk mail or spam filter. If you still experience difficulty, email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Include your student ID# in the body of your message.
  3. Complete the required online orientation course before your first class:
Login to Biblical’s website and go to laptopAcademics/Orientation (at the bottom of left menu). It will take about 1 hour. Students are responsible to read and know materials posted in the online orientation course. Upon completion of the course, you will be asked for your electronic signature stating that you completed the course.
  4. Get your picture taken in the library: Photographs for student ID cards will be taken in the library during the first two weeks of classes. At that time, you will sign your ID and it will be placed in your student mailbox the following week with your library bar code and photo. Online only students: your library bar code is visible to you when you login to the library’s cybercatalog. If you happen to live close to campus or come for a residency course, get your picture taken in the library. Your ID will be mailed to you.
  5. Install MS Office 2007 compatibility pack, if needed.
If you are currently using a previous version of Microsoft Office and have not installed the compatibility pack for Office 2007 (Windows) or Office 2008 (Mac), please read on. If you are an Office 2007/2008 user or have already installed this software, then you set to go. Biblical has standardized on the Office 2007 format which means that important documents from your instructors will be in this format. Additionally, some of your classmates may have the newer version installed which will make it difficult for you to exchange documents and work collaboratively. Thankfully, there is a free solution available from Microsoft that will allow you to open the newer file format in previous versions of Office.
  6. Install flash and adobe reader, if needed.
The seminary requires Flash 10.x or newer and Adobe reader 9.
