BTS Statement against violence

BTS Statement against violence

The BTS community wants to express its deep sorrow at the brutal and senseless death of Heather Heyer in Charlottesville, VA. Her death (as well as the deaths of the State Troopers and the injuries suffered by others) is a painful reminder that hatred and bigotry resolve nothing. As we follow Jesus into the world we take seriously the responsibility to speak out against evil. Any assertion of white supremacy or white nationalism is at its core a rejection of the Christian conviction that we are all made in the image of God.

We join with other Christians in condemning violence, hatred and racism. And we pray for healing in a nation increasingly divided.

May God have mercy on us.
