The Counseling Center at BTS

The counseling center at BTS exists to provide low-cost, short-term pastoral counseling to seminary students, staff, Faculty, Alumni, and their families. Our Counselors are master’s-level graduates of seminary and/or licensed, and all strive to provide biblically sound, Christ-centered, God-glorifying counsel.

Our goal is that you would leave with greater self-awareness of God’s activity in your life and with a greater capacity to meet present and/or future challenges in life and ministry.

The cost per session is $50, Licensed Professional Counselor, payable directly to Biblical Seminary (1st session is $65 for Intake and Evaluation).

The cost per session is $40, master's-level Counselor, payable directly to Biblical Seminary (1st session is $55 for Intake and Evaluation).

MA in Counseling, BTS; Licensed Professional Counselor

Kathe is a 2008 graduate of BTS (MA in Counseling), a Registered Nurse, Licensed Professional Counselor, and has her certification as an Approved Clinical Supervisor. She has served in the church as a Licensed Pastor to children and families and has worked with people from various developmental stages of life. For the past eight years Kathe has worked as a Counselor in alternative education, caring for teenagers and families struggling with relational discord, drugs and alcohol, eating disorders, mental health diagnoses, abuse, and trauma. Joining others along the journey of self-discovery, and seeing God’s potential and unique design for each person is Kathe’s hope for the counseling process.

Licensed Counselors


MA in Counseling, BTS; Licensed Professional Counselor

Michelle is a 2000 graduate of BTS (MA in Counseling), adjunct professor, and a Licensed Professional Counselor. Michelle has taught Fieldwork courses as well as Introduction to Counseling Skills and Sex Therapy. She has a heart for those that suffer from sexual difficulties in marriage. She has been counseling for over 14 years, and her clients have presented with varying issues including depression, anxiety, and sexual abuse.


MA in Counseling, BTS

Steve is an LPC, and holds both an MA in Counseling and an MA in Christian Thought from BTS, and is a Prepare & Enrich facilitator. Steve is the Pastoral Counselor at his local church and a Ruling Elder. Steve is a Leadership Coach for Cru (Campus Crusade) and volunteers as a couples’ counselor at the North Care Women’s Clinic. Areas of emphasis include: career and vocation, ministry challenges, grief and loss, couples and relationships. Steve’s personal mission is: Helping people overcome obstacles that prevent them from reaching the full potential of God’s calling for their lives.

Master's-Level Counselors


MA in Counseling, BTS

Janet is a 2017 graduate of BTS (MA in Counseling). She also completed the GTRI certificate program and participated in the 2016 GTRI Immersion Trip to Rwanda. She has over 10 years of experience doing marriage and individual counseling at both a Christian counseling center and at her church and has developed materials for and run support groups for women who have been sexually assaulted. Her counseling areas of interest include trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues (whether married or single), and addictions.


MA in Counseling, BTS

Alyse is a 2017 graduate of BTS (MA in Counseling). Alyse also works as a psychotherapist at an outpatient mental health facility with a diverse population in Philadelphia, as well as doing online counseling. Alyse has worked with clients who have presented with various issues including anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem, abuse, and PTSD. Alyse has a heart for those suffering from abuse and trauma. Her desire for counseling is for people to find hope and healing as well as to understand themselves and their world more fully.

Biblical Theological Seminary
We are a Christian seminary located in Hatfield, PA. We are moving our main campus to Philadelphia, PA in January 2019. Our focus on missional theology and missional training will help prepare you for ministry no matter where you serve.
